About the Event
This is a space for Nurses to have open, honest and real conversations about personal experiences of racism in the workplace.
These behaviours can be expressed from patients, colleagues and strangers and often present as direct, indirect, conscious and unconscious bias which often results in individuals reinforcing prejudices which may lead to discrimination.
The insidious nature of Healthcare related racism is such that the majority of white people do not even recognize a potential breech in the Race Equalities Act 2010 or the impact of racism discrimination on their Black colleagues.
Our Zoom session offer an opportunity for nurses to discuss and identify racist behaviours, stereotypes and micro aggressions which are often subtle, covert and deeply ingrained in policies, procedures, and operations, which make up the culture of our National Health Service and constitute institutional racism.
